Dried rose petals, milled fine. Rose is cooling in Ayurvedic terms, and in practice that translates to a mask that calms rather than one that strips — which makes rose petal powder the one to add when a pack is too harsh on its own.
For Skin
- Heat and redness — the main traditional use, and the one you notice first.
- Dullness — mildly cleansing, mildly exfoliating.
- Uneven tone — over weeks, as part of a routine.
- As a softener in a clay pack that is otherwise too drying.
How to use
- One tablespoon in a non-metal bowl.
- Add rose water or milk a little at a time to a smooth paste.
- Apply to a clean face, avoiding the eyes.
- Fifteen to twenty minutes. Remove while still slightly tacky.
- Rinse cool, then mist rose water and apply a gel while damp.
Mixing ideas
With kaolin clay for sensitive skin. With multani mitti to take the edge off it. With orange peel powder for brightness. A pinch of kasturi haldi is the classical addition.
For Hair
Two tablespoons of rose petal powder, three tablespoons of coconut oil and a tablespoon of honey, mixed to a paste. Apply to the roots, leave thirty minutes, wash out with a mild shampoo. Used for shine and for a scalp that runs hot.
