A complete hair oiling ritual in one pouch — the herb, the carrier that delivers it, and the comb that works it through the scalp. Three things that each do a little on their own and a great deal together.

What Is Inside

Why These Three

Bhringraj Oil

Eclipta alba is the herb Ayurveda names first for hair — keshraj, king of hair. The whole plant is infused into a carrier over low heat until the oil takes on its properties, which is why a good one is dark, cloudy and smells strongly of herb rather than of perfume.

It is a concentrate. Used alone on a dry scalp it is heavy, slow to spread and hard to wash out. It is meant to be extended, which is what the second bottle is for.

Virgin Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is the most studied oil in hair science. Its lauric acid has a low molecular weight and a straight chain, which lets it move into the hair shaft rather than sit on it — the reason it is the oil repeatedly shown to reduce protein loss from hair, on washed, damaged and undamaged hair alike.

Here it does two jobs at once. It carries the bhringraj across the whole scalp instead of a few patches, and it is light enough that the whole thing washes out in one go rather than three.

Neem Wood Comb

The comb is not a free gift. Oil poured onto a scalp sits where it lands; the comb is what moves it along every parting and down the length. Neem wood generates no static, so hair is not lifted and roughened the way a plastic comb roughens it, and wide teeth pass through oiled hair without the snagging that causes breakage.

The Ritual

  1. Warm the coconut oil — stand the bottle in hot water for a few minutes. Never heat oil directly on a flame.
  2. Mix 10 to 15 drops of bhringraj into about two teaspoons of warm coconut oil in a small bowl. More bhringraj is not better; it is simply harder to wash out.
  3. Section the hair into four to six parts.
  4. Apply along each parting with your fingertips, working on the scalp rather than the lengths.
  5. Massage for five to ten minutes — fingertips, not nails, slow circles.
  6. Comb through from root to tip, slowly, to carry the oil down the length.
  7. Leave one to two hours, or overnight if your hair is dry.
  8. Shampoo on dry oiled hair first, then wet and lather.

That last step is the one almost everybody misses. Shampoo binds to oil far better without water in the way, and it is the difference between one wash and three.

How often

Twice a week for most people. Three times if the scalp is dry. Once a week if it is oily, left in for an hour rather than overnight.

What to Expect

  • Week 1–2: less itching, hair feels softer and less brittle.
  • Week 4–6: noticeably less hair coming away on wash day.
  • Three months: less breakage and a visible difference at the roots.

Hair keeps its own timetable. Judge this at eight weeks rather than at two.

Who It Is For

Anyone with hair fall, thinning, early greying or a dry scalp — and anyone who has bought a hair oil before and never worked out what to actually do with it. It suits every hair type. Fine hair should use the lower end of the bhringraj range.

As a gift it needs nothing added. It arrives in the pouch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why not just buy a bottle of bhringraj oil?
You can, and we sell one. But bhringraj on its own is the part most people get wrong — it goes on neat, it is heavy, it will not wash out, and the bottle gets abandoned. The set exists because the carrier and the comb are what make the herb usable.

Is 15ml of bhringraj enough?
At 10 to 15 drops per oiling, yes — roughly 20 to 30 applications, which is about three months at twice a week. The coconut oil is the one you will finish first.

Can I use the coconut oil for anything else?
Yes. It is ordinary cold pressed virgin coconut oil — skin, body, cooking. Nothing has been added to it.

The coconut oil has gone solid. Is it spoiled?
No. Virgin coconut oil sets below about 24°C, so it will be solid through a north Indian winter. Stand the bottle in warm water and it returns to liquid with nothing lost.

Can I leave the oil in overnight?
Yes, and it is slightly better for dry hair. Do not leave it for days — past about twelve hours there is no further benefit, and oil sitting on a scalp attracts dust.

Will oiling make my hair fall more?
No. What comes away on an oiling day is hair that had already shed, released by the massage and the comb. It was coming out anyway.

How do I wash the comb?
Wipe it with a dry cloth after each use. If it needs more, a quick wash with mild soap and an immediate dry — wood should not be left to soak.
