Rajasthani Indigo Powder for Natural Black Hair – 100% Pure

Indigo powder is the natural way to get black hair without ammonia, PPD or peroxide. Ours is pure Indigofera tinctoria, finely sifted, with strong dye release.

Indigo on its own produces a blue dye that will not hold on hair. Used after henna, it turns henna's orange into a rich, natural black. This two-step method is what gives full grey coverage.

How to use — the two-step method for black hair:

Step 1 — Henna. Mix henna powder with warm water into a thick paste. Cover and leave 6-8 hours for dye release. Apply to clean, towel-dried hair. Leave 2-3 hours. Rinse with water only, no shampoo. Your hair will look orange at this stage — this is normal.

Step 2 — Indigo. Mix indigo powder with warm water and half a teaspoon of salt into a paste. Use it within 15-20 minutes — indigo loses its dye quickly once mixed. Apply to the damp henna-treated hair. Leave 1.5-2 hours. Rinse with water only.

Do not shampoo for 48 hours. The colour deepens to black over the next two days as the indigo oxidises. Do not judge the result on day one.

For brown instead of black, mix henna and indigo together — 2:1 for light brown, 1:1 for medium, 1:2 for dark brown.
