Long Handle Wooden Bath Brush – Detachable Back Scrubber with Natural Bristles

A wooden bath brush with a detachable long handle. Use it full length to reach your own back, or take the handle off and use the head alone on arms, legs and feet.
Why a Brush Instead of a Loofah
A nylon loofah holds water in its folds and sits in a damp bathroom between showers, which is why it starts to smell within weeks. A wooden brush with natural bristles drains and dries, and lasts years rather than months.
The bristles also do something a loofah cannot — they give enough resistance to actually lift dead skin, which is the whole point of scrubbing.
What It Is Used For
Reaching your own back
The obvious one, and why most people buy a long-handled brush. It also reaches the backs of the shoulders, where body acne tends to sit.
Exfoliating before you oil
Scrub, rinse, then apply oil to damp skin. Oil sinks into freshly exfoliated skin far better than into skin carrying a week of dead cells.
Dry brushing
Used on dry skin before a bath, in long strokes towards the heart, to stimulate circulation. In Ayurveda this is garshana, done before an oil massage.
Heels and soles
The detached head is the right size for working on heels and the rough edges of the feet.
Taking off body packs
For multani mitti, sandalwood or ubtan on the body, the brush lifts the dried paste off in half the time your hands take.
How to Use It
- Wet the bristles and your skin
- Work in long strokes, always towards the heart
- Use light pressure — the bristles do the work, not your arm
- Rinse, then oil or moisturise while the skin is still damp
Two or three times a week is plenty. Daily is too much for most skin.
For dry brushing: dry skin, dry brush, before the shower goes on. Five minutes in long strokes, starting at the feet and working upwards.
Looking After It
- Shake the water out and stand it bristles-down to drain
- Do not leave it sitting in the shower tray or on a wet shelf
- Never soak the wooden head — wood swells and bristles loosen
- Once a month, rinse the bristles in warm water with a little shampoo, then dry it fully
Treated this way, one wooden brush outlasts a drawer full of loofahs.
Who It Suits
Good for: anyone who wants to reach their own back, dry or rough body skin, bumpy skin on the arms and thighs, body acne across the shoulders, rough heels and elbows.
Go gently if: your skin is very sensitive, sunburnt, broken, or has active eczema or psoriasis. Use light pressure, or skip those areas.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the handle really removable?
Yes — that is the point of the design. Long for your back, short for everywhere else.
Are the bristles hard?
Firm rather than harsh, and they soften noticeably once wet.
Can I use it on my face?
No. Facial skin is much thinner. Use a face pack or a gentle facial scrub instead.
Will it go mouldy?
Not if you let it drain and dry. Mould comes from leaving it wet, which is the same thing that ruins loofahs.
Dry brushing or wet?
Both work. Wet with soap for cleaning, dry for circulation and exfoliation.
