Hair Strengthening Repair Mask – 9 Herb Ayurvedic Hair Pack for Damaged Hair

A herbal powder mask — nine Ayurvedic herbs, milled and blended, that you mix fresh each time with water, curd or aloe vera juice. Nothing is preserved, because nothing needs to be until you add the liquid.

This is the format Indian households used before bottled hair masks existed, and it is still the honest version: no water, no emulsifiers, no preservatives, and the herbs at full strength.

What Is In It, and Why

Bhringraj — keshraj, king of hair. The first herb Ayurveda names for hair fall and weak roots.

Jatamansi — a Himalayan root used to calm the scalp and support root strength, traditionally where hair fall is stress-related.

Amla — vitamin C and tannins. Strengthens the shaft, adds shine, and is the classic herb for early greying.

Hibiscus — conditioning and slippery. Repairs brittle strands and adds volume; it is also what makes the mask easy to rinse out.

Methi — plant protein. Fortifies the hair shaft, improves elasticity and reduces breakage.

Aloe vera — hydration and scalp comfort. Softens and adds shine.

Neem — the scalp purifier. Keeps flaking and build-up under control.

Brahmi — nourishes the scalp, strengthens roots, supports density.

Ashwagandha — an adaptogen, used here for stress-related hair concerns and general scalp nourishment.

How to Use It

1. Mix 3–4 tablespoons with warm water, curd or aloe vera juice into a smooth paste, about the thickness of yoghurt
2. Let it sit for 10 minutes so the powders hydrate properly
3. Apply from the scalp down to the ends, section by section
4. Leave 30–45 minutes — while it is still slightly tacky, not bone dry
5. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, then shampoo if needed

A tablespoon of bhringraj oil stirred into the paste makes it noticeably easier to wash out, and is worth doing if your hair is dry.

Why a Powder and Not a Tub

A ready-made mask is mostly water, and water needs preservatives and emulsifiers to stay stable on a shelf. A powder has neither. You mix what you need, the herbs are at full strength the day you use them, and a pack lasts months.

The trade-off is five minutes of mixing. That is the whole difference.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it colour my hair?

Can I leave it on overnight?
No — a dried herbal pack sitting on the scalp for hours is drying. Forty-five minutes is the useful limit.

Do I need to shampoo after?
Usually a thorough rinse is enough. Shampoo if you mixed oil into it.

Can I mix a big batch and keep it?
No. Mix it fresh each time. Once it has water in it, it starts to spoil within a day.

How is this different from using the powders separately?
It is not, apart from the blending being done for you in the right proportions. If you already buy single herb powders, you can build your own.
